What are dermal fillers?
Facial aging is a dynamic process and as we mature, our skin becomes thinner, less hydrated, and loses elasticity. Areas of fat under our skin decrease, and as we lose volume, facial features appear flat and droop. This also leads to lines at rest, deep skin folds, and areas of hollowness. There is no way to prevent volume loss, but there is a way to treat it — with dermal fillers!
Surgery aside, dermal fillers are an effective alternative at smoothing, softening, and bolstering sagging skin and sunken features. Injectable dermal fillers come in a variety of forms to replace this loss of volume, but the most popular to use are those containing hyaluronic acid (HA). These dermal fillers work by imitating HA – a naturally occurring substance found within your body. HA is found in abundance in the skin’s structure where it acts to hold moisture to keep the skin soft, firm, plump, and hydrated. HA-based dermal fillers temporarily ‘fill’ or bulk up the tissues underneath your skin to help replace HA that has been lost in the aging process.

What to expect?
During your consultation which is typically 45 minutes, we will review your medical history to ensure it’s a safe treatment option for you. We will take this time to evaluate your facial features, amount of skin laxity, the extent of volume loss, and depth of creases, wrinkles, and fine lines. After discussing your aesthetic goals we will provide you with a customized treatment plan. At Pristine Rejuvenation, we strive to give you the best possible results that refresh and enhance the face while maintaining a natural, healthy appearance. We carry a variety of FDA-approved HA dermal fillers from the Restylane family and Revanesse (Versa). While they are all created with the same key ingredient (HA), each filler is formulated differently to achieve specific functions to improve particular areas of the face. One or more of these products may be used on the face, depending on the number and type of concerns to be addressed.
We will explain the difference between the different fillers and recommend which ones may be most appropriate to address your concerns. Depending on the area, we may apply numbing cream or an ice pack to minimize discomfort. Some of the fillers already contain a local anesthetic which also makes the treatment very tolerable. The injections themselves feel like a slight pinch, and you may experience mild pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation as the filler is being injected.
Immediately following your treatment, there will be redness at the treatment site. As with any injectable treatment, bruising is possible and will typically resolve within a week. The treated area may also have swelling & tenderness for a few days. Treatments may need to be spread out over multiple sessions based on the extent of volume loss and the results you are looking to achieve. Some of the greatest benefits of dermal filler injectables are that compared to a surgical procedure, treatment time is quick, there is minimal to no downtime, and the results are noticeable right away with optimal results appearing within a few days following the procedure.
