How Does Dysport® Work?
If frown lines between your eyebrows have you feeling self-conscious, then it may be time to look into treatment with an injectable neurotoxin, such as Dysport®. Dysport is a fast-acting, long-lasting, natural-looking prescription injection proven help smooth moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows). It works by blocking certain muscle contractions that result in lines and wrinkles without affecting the look or movement of the rest of the face. Once injected between the eyebrows, wrinkles are reduced or even temporarily eliminated, giving you a smoother, younger-looking complexion. These beneficial effects of Dysport can last up to five months (results vary depending on each patient). When fine lines and wrinkles gradually start to return, that means it’s time for a follow-up treatment to maintain results.
How Many Dysport Injections Will I Need?
Like other neurotoxins, such as Botox® and Xeomin®, Dysport injections are administered in “units.” Typically, units are injected in five key points above and between the brows. Since every person is different, individual results may vary and more units may be needed. This is dependent on multiple factors, such as your metabolism, muscle strength, and individual aesthetic goals. During your consultation, we will discuss all the details of treatment with Dysport and provide you with a recommended treatment amount to fit your needs.
What Should I Expect From My Dysport Treatment?
During your initial appointment (which is usually about 30 minutes), we will discuss your medical history and personal aesthetic goals to ensure Dysport is the best treatment option for you. If determined to be safe and appropriate for your individual needs, we will inject Dysport using an ultra-fine needle. The whole procedure is quick with minimal discomfort. No downtime is needed, so you can go on about your day once treatment is complete. You can expect smoothing of the lines in wrinkles to show up in two to three days with full effects lasting up to five months in some cases. Follow-up appointments (if you choose to maintain your results) are typically only about 15 minutes.
